Districts 1, 4, 5, and 11 have been done, in our featured cookbook recipes.

At the start of the New Year I ventured to District 5, because I simply love their food.  Being the district of Power, they definitely like to reflect it in their dishes as well.  Most of their dishes have fragrant spices, desserts topped with gun-powering fresh mints, and drinks strong and pumpkin and cinnamon spiced. Here is one of my favorite dishes, of which I have also adapted into my restaurant menu.  Even though it is detailed, it is very much worth the 50 minutes of labor.

PORK CURRY
Servings: 4
1 lb lean pork , cut into 1-inch cubes
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons onions , finely chopped
2  garlic cloves , finely chopped
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
2  tomatoes , seeded and chopped
2 teaspoons tomato puree
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons coconut cream
1  green chilies , seeded and sliced
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt

Heat a pot and melt the butter.
Fry the onions and garlic for 3 minutes.
Add the cinnamon, chili powder, coriander, cumin and turmeric, stir and fry for 2 minutes.
Add the pork and cook for 3 minutes stirring to coat the meat with the spices.

Here in the Capitol, we all live in splendor: air-conditioned, well furnished, and beautiful homes. I don’t think anyone can deny how lovely it is living here, though why don’t we take a moment to appreciate what the districts do for living.
In this picture is a log cabin which can be found in District 7, who focus on lumber. They harvest the wood themselves, as well as build the actually homes. These houses are just as small as they seem, too, because the majority of the lumber they harvest is sent here, to the Capitol. And you can bet that in the summer and the winter, the temperature in these houses can go to the extremes, whether it’s really hot or really cold.
Let this be an example to us of how lovely and luxurious our lives in this grand city are, and how lucky we really are to live like this!

Greetings, Citizens of Panem!!!

Today, here at The Capitol Scoop, we’ll be showing you how to achieve Beauty Base Zero

Now, before we begin, Beauty Base Zero is pretty much what you naturally look like when you just wake up, simply a little more enhanced and cleaned up.

Let’s start with the hair.

Simply comb through your hair until you get your natural shine.

It should look something like these images:

Now, keep in mind that hair will most likely not be perfectly symmetrical, as shown above.

Moving onto the eyes, simply brush on a few coats of mascara, as to enhance the eyes, but not to line them or shape them in any way. We recommend Loreal’s Lash-Out because it lengthens and separates lashes without plumping them or over enhancing them in any way.

And then for the lips, we want them to be as natural and subtle as possible. We recommend MAC’s Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick. Now if you want to go a little more, add a thin layer of the lip glass in the same shade for a small shine. We don’t recommend it if you’re going to the actual Basic Beauty Zero, though.

Lastly, for the nails. Normal plain nails can be nice, yes, but sometimes, the nails themselves don’t look very attractive. We recommend Forever 21’s nude nail polish as an extremely subtle and economical way of solving that problem. Now, your nails are even less noticeable than before and it isn’t expensive to do so.

If you insist on plain nails, though. Then we encourage Essie’s grow stronger, Fortifying Growth Treatment polish. This polish comes on a tiny bit milky pinkish, which enhances the nail, but is 90% clear.

It also helps strengthens and speeds up the growth of your nail! You could also use this under the Nude Polish as well, if you love long, healthy nails but also love the idea of nude nails that are so simple and clean, yet pretty as well.

And that’s Basic Beauty Zero for you!! It’s you, completely you. Just a little enhanced to bring out the best that sometimes can be hiding.

Until next week!

-Tiffany.

Also, what should I cover next week?

When I visited District 4, I tried various vegetables (and other assortments) stuffed with seafood.  Stuffed mushrooms, stuffed potato crust, and stuffed pies, but nothing beats stuffed cherry tomatoes.  The juicy tomato skin gives it tang and, if ripe enough, sweetness and moisture.  It is a splendidly simple and healthy appetizer to a party!Try out an adaptation of this recipe, which will be introduced this weekend as a special in my restaurant!
INGREDIENTS
40      cherry tomatoes
 7 1/2 ounces tuna
4  ounces cream cheese , softened
 2  tablespoons onions , grated
  salt and pepper
 2  tablespoons lemon juice
1  tablespoon heavy cream , to moisten (about)

Directions:

Cut thin slice from stem end of each tomato.

Remove pulp, and invert on paper towel to drain.

Combine all other ingredients to form a creamy consistency.

Stuff tomatoes using a small spoon.

Garnish with parsley.

Make ahead and chill.Original~Rose

We were able to sit down with singer, Michelle, and pianist, Jane, for an exclusive song preview.  What talent!

They might be performing at the Parade, in celebration for the 77th Hunger Games.

Hello again!
So earlier this month while talking to the stylists for the more elite capitol citizens and hunger games participants I had to ask about where exactly they have visited and where exactly are the places.
I talked to an artist and showed Maria Rizzoni the information I got and she was able to draw out where we think everything is.
Since you readers haven’t been school for a while or like most children in the capitol, don’t pay attention and the hunger games are coming up soon, here is a theoretical map of where things could be.

Being an avid shopper, and I’m sure many of you are as well, I went shopping yesterday, and let me tell you, this styles for this season are sure to be phenomenal! Just one example is the ever-stylish Effie Trinket. She may be drenched in pink, her favorite colour, but look past the rosey hue to the actual dress for a moment.
This dress, along with others I saw on my shopping excursion, feature a narrow waist and a very full hip, something that will look flattering on nearly everyone! It’s an incredibly slimming look, and a belt can be added for just a little extra flair! Of course, this is only one of many new styles for the new season, so keep your eyes peeled, because more will be on the market very soon!
